Our Approach
Sisu is unique to the southeast and one of only a select few schools in the nation offering the convenience of education, therapy (occupational, physical, speech, pet, and musical), nursing, and family support services in one location. This interdisciplinary and collaborative approach results in a higher quality of care for children and creates an atmosphere where qualities such as compassion, acceptance, and kindness are developed and encouraged so our students go on to become good citizens and good friends.
With an average staff-to-student ratio of 1:4 and all instruction guided by the Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards (GELDS), our students receive individualized care and attention while learning from evidence-based instructional methods and standards, fully preparing them for kindergarten. Our on-site, full-time registered and licensed nursing staff monitor the health needs of all enrolled children and allow children with significant medical needs to receive tailored, specialized care integrated into their early education experience.
In addition, we offer enrichment programs to all students that allow children with and without special needs the opportunity to participate together in activities such as t-ball, kickball, flag football, art, basketball, and cheerleading.
Sisu currently serves as a learning center for multiple universities that use our school as a clinical setting for nursing and occupational, speech, and physical therapy students as well as for social work internships, alternative spring breaks, and volunteer projects.
